No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Let's break this down; The word "Greed" means to: have an intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. Sub meanings include: impatience, urges, desires, and cravings.. So what do I believe that this scripture means? I believe it means you need to be present in your faith in God and always put him first. I think the scripture is relating that if we stay patient with him, and put our trust in him, he will provide us with whatever we need as long as we stay consistent/loyal. The 10 commandments say that we shall have no false ideal and by putting money before god you are allowing the idealization of money before your father and creator. Living in the real world we have bills and all other means driven by the monetization and materialistic world that it is quite hard to not have money come priority in life. This is why it is so important to reflect, pray, and let the holy spirit guide you in his direction and not the prideful seeking of materialistic goods.
