Iryna is 34. She lived and worked in the town of Bakhmut when the full-scale invasion began. When the russian army got close, Iryna and her children had to flee the heavily shelled city. The family had no time to prepare and ran away with what they could carry in their hands – Iryna wasn't able to take much of their belongings. She managed to keep the documents and a pin depicting the coat of arms of Bakhmut. The coat of arms is depicted in two colors. The green color symbolises the fertile Bakhmut soil; the black color stands for rich subsoil. An alchemical sign of salt unites up and bottom of the coat of arms – the salt was the main reason for the founding of the settlement in its place. Irina and her family are now living safely in Poland, but being away from their homeland is still difficult, especially knowing that there is no possibility of returning. Irina’s thoughts are still with her native city of Bakhmut, which now exists only in her memories. The once beautiful, cheerful city, after being a frontline for months, is now a ghost shell.
