Sad Tiger Saves The Jungle portrays the events leading up to Tiger's coronation as the new Commander of Tiger Claw, a specialised military group commanded by Tiger Lily, a female. The group is led by one of the members named Genma, who has grown weary of her duties and seeks to improve the company by eliminating all male members of her troop. Her attempts to stop Lion Claw’s emergence in 1941 (due to the destruction of the "Black Lion" and her previous attempts to defeat Tiger Lily) fail as she and the rest of the group are brutally massacred and her bodyguard, Mantis is forced to move away and she is killed. Genma also attempts to have another female member called Miss Fortune killed but this fails as Tiger has already found another young male named Bongo. In 1942 Tiger Lily is sent on a major tour of the Asian theater, to a Buddhist temple in the Philippines after her husband, Tiger Tiger Shing Ko has broken off contact with the world's leading cult of kung fu masters. She meets fellow soldier who recruits her for his duties but soon discovers herself drawn to the group, including Tiger's subordinate Tiger Lung, a combat medic. A young and seemingly perfect Tiger Lily, Tiger Kogoro and Tiger Suet are introduced to Bongo.
