Many warrior queens are known for their tactical knowledge of war and successes in battle, also for their un matched strength even from their male counter parts. But Moremi was named queen due to her ultimate sacrifice. Moremi bore no children, took no husband, Moremi rejected all treasures and royal life that she was entitled to. Moremi lived for the freedom of her people. She would free captured slaves and bring the to safety. At this time this was punishable by death. However this did not concern Moremi as the right to be free was a much more powerful notion for Moremi. Her unwavering bravery, leaving no-one behind, wether young, or old she ensured she freed every slave from their master and provided respite for them. This momentous task was Moremi’s lifework she spend 60 years working in service for her people, when she passed peacefully in her home the village morned for 5 months, many people and generations owe their lives to this sing woman this warrior queen.
