Glitch Woman

2005
Glitch Woman is a part of a wider project – #fakealphapixel – initiated in 2021 by tinosestric, a meta alter ego of Slovenian multimedia and intermedia artist and designer Martin Petrič. While creating a 3D avatar of a woman, an error appeared in the texture. This glitch became a form of utility and digital visual poetry, giving impetus to a further artistic survey. In a series of spatiotemporal screen captures the artist carefully investigates the 3D model of the imaginary woman. He performs a multifaceted visual deconstruction – in a form resembling ambiguous digital paysages, but also by bringing into play clear figural imagery. Whereas the deconstructed digital body remains still, each flaw and anomaly, its depths and beauties can be seen from a micro perception through large scale animations. Researcher of new digital landscapes and builder of imaginariums, Petrič here attempts to explore emotionality and eros derived from pure digital creation and its flaws, by focusing on the dead macro, and alive micro structures of his digital subject.
